      Jack founded the law firm that is today known as Cochran, Oswald & Roam. While in law school, he was recognized by Phi Delta Phi as the Outstanding Graduate.
He works exclusively with complex
dissolution of marriage, property division, paternity, child custody and parenting matters. He has been named in every
edition of the Best Lawyers in America since publication began in 1983. Very few lawyers in the country have achieved this distinction. He is one of three family lawyers in Missouri to have been so recognized. Jack was named by Best Lawyers in America as the Kansas City Family Lawyer of 2010. Furthermore, Jack has been recognized
by the Kansas City Business Journal in its annual "Best of the Bar" as one of the top three attorneys practicing family
law in the Greater Kansas City Area. Jack has been recognized by Town and Country Magazine as one of the top 88 divorce lawyers in the United States. He was recently recognized as one of the Super Lawyers in the United States.
      Jack is the author of Volume 21, Missouri Practice, Family Law (1990) and co-author of Volumes 21A and 21B,
Missouri Practice, Family Law (2000) and (2008). These books are standard treatises on family law used by lawyers and judges throughout Missouri.
Jack is a frequent speaker and lecturer on family law throughout the nation for attorneys, judges and law schools.
      Jack served as a member of the Missouri Bar Board of Governors from 1977 to 1989. In addition, he was the chairperson of the Missouri
Bar Family Law Section from 1985-87. Jack is a Certified Fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, and was
President of the Missouri chapter from 1988-89. He is also admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court.
Jack is very involved in collaborative law and is an advocate of this new approach as an alternative to traditional litigation
in resolving family law disputes. Moreover, Jack is a certified arbitrator.
      In 1975, Jack was selected as the Blue Springs Citizen of the Year. In 1987, Jack was a recipient of the Missouri Bar President's Award.
      Jack and his wife, Jill, together have five children, Paul, Kristin, Kyle, Alex and Nathan.
